I am an 18 year old female in very good shape. I was prescribed 500mg. of levaquin for 14 days last week. after my first dose i felt dizzy and had trouble breathing. I didnt associate it to the drug until my second dose the next day when i was hyperventalating and felt like i was going to die. I had to go the the ER but they told me that it was definatley from the levaquin and there was nothing i could do but let it ware off. it was the worst experience ever and i will never take this drug again.

I've been on Levaquin for a throat infection for 12 days, taking the pill at bedtime. On the morning after the 12th dose, i noticed lots of red dots that were slightly itchy on the palms and fingers of both hands. Later in the day, i noticed its concentrating on my ankles and legs and a few are scattered on my torso. It rings back to an allergic reaction I had to penicillin (amoxacillin) about 20 years ago but without as much itching. Thus it dawned on me that it must be the Levaquin. I will not take another dose of Levaquin and I will go see my doctor in the morning.

I did spend some time in the sun (with 40spf sunblock) this weekend, so that may have aggravated the reaction.

I have just started taking levaquin for a bacterial infection. I have been on 500 mg dose once a day for only 5 days and strange symptoms are already progressively getting worse. I have noticed intermittent tinnitus but far worse is the fact that I haven't slept in 4 days. I called my physician and was told by her nurse that Levaquin shouldn't cause such a reaction. When I insisted she ask my dr. personally, after consultation, she then told me I was to stop taking the Levaquin STAT.
After reading so many accounts of bad reactions on this drug, I am curious why it is even approved for use. I would also like to know from others if the symptoms subside with time
