July 2004 Cipro

I've had constant muscle pain for years now. I never connected it with
Cipro, which I've been on numerous times for uti. Yesterday, the doc
prescribed Levaquin since Cipro seems to be losing its effectiveness.
I became extremely drowsy and anxious, went looking on the net about
Levaquin and discovered it's in the same class as Cipro! After reading
the posts on lots of sites about Cipro and Levaquin, I'm scared I've
really harmed myself, but now that I read about others, my symptoms
are beginning to make sense, so I'm somewhat relieved. Doctors CANNOT
be trusted, as they are so pressured - brainwashed, really - by the
drug giants to prescribe, prescribe, prescribe. The system stinks.
Outright, legal bribery.

Does anybody have tinnitus due to Levaquin ???
I took levaquin for pneumonia in feb 2004. A couple of months later,
at the end of last june 2004, I came down with tinnitus. Does anybody
have any experience with Tinnitus & Levaquin ??? Is this permanent
condition or Does the tinnitus get better with time ???

Re: Does anybody have tinnitus due to Levaquin ???
Not due to Levaquin, but due to Cipro, another FQ. I've had it for
years, and coincidentally (NOT!) I've been on Cipro for uti on and off
for years. Hmm... maybe there's a connection there...

I took levaquin almost 4 years ago for a period of a couple of weeks.
I noticed joint pain in my elbows, hips, knees, and wrists. I stopped
taking the pills when I did a search for side effects because I knew
something had suddenly changed with my health. With no particular
warning a year after stopping the levaquin I started having lower back
pain that lasted for almost two years constantly and now comes every
month or so. I have recently suffered tendon damage and joint pain in
my right thumb, and after 9 weeks I am healing very slowly. My right
knee is very tight, with pain in/under the knee cap. I have very
stiff/ painful achilles tendons on both feet. I know levauin caused
joint pain wile I was taking it and I believe I am still suffering
from it's ill effects. I am a slim 36 year old, otherwise healthy
male. I think levaquin may have aged my joints 30 years in just a
couple of weeks.

As you may know, my life has changed as of April 22, 2004 when I first
underwent treatment for my sinus infection with a course of Levaquin
500 mgs. Since that time I have seen many doctors of differing
specialties with no offer a treatment plan or clear diagnosis. I am
sure that all of you can relate to my current situation.
The reason for my letter today is a plea for assistance. There have
been minimal responses to the request for petitions, volunteers for
the letter writing campaign and only a handful of victim stories have
been posted on fqvictims.org.
Please remember that the drug companies have the ability to hire
lobbyists, they pad the pockets of the prescribing doctors and have
billion dollar empires that focus on keeping this poison on the
market. The only resource that we have are our voices. I am not asking
that you be like Helen and Vince and make trips to Washington and
dedicate your lives to stopping the torture of the quinolones, I am
simply asking you to use the most important tool that you have, your
voice.
I am asking that in memory of Paul who could no longer tolerate living
with the effects of quinonles, Kristina whose life was ended at the
age of 23 because of this poison and the other 774 poor souls whose
lives were ended needlessly that you join us and take action.
The drug companies are currently trying to get approval for the use of
quinolones in children. I could not imagine a child having to suffer
with the pain and anxiety on a daily basis that I am living with. The
only possibility of stopping the use of quinolones in children is if
we unite, use our voices and get congressional attention.
I know how hard it can be to deal with the pain and anxiety that comes
with being floxed and it makes life hard on a daily basis. It?s easy
to think that your voice will not make the difference and put off
sending in the petition. Your voice is desperately needed!!
Please think of the 774 souls who lost their lives, the 31,000 people
who have been floxed and the children who will most certainly have
permanent damage if we do not act and do the following today:
1)Please print the petition and complete it. Request that your family
and friends also sign the petition.
2)Please send an email to Vonnie at vonnie@msensor@com to let her know
what state you live in and let her know you will participate in the
oped letter writing.
3)Please be sure that your story is posted on fqvictims.org.
Thank you so much for acting responsibly and helping to prevent this
from happening to our children. I can be reached at taundaleah@msn.com
if you have any questions or need assistance.

After taking Levaquin for 4 days for bronchitis, I could barely walk.
I had incredible pain and weakness in my knees! I am 52 yrs old, but
felt 80! I saw in the literature that the medication could cause joint
pain and stopped it immediately! I am now researching to find out if
this is a temporary side effect! Gaye
