Post Marketing Reports for April 2005 Wed, 27 Apr 2005 10:28:27 -0400 by Guest, #10588 Mid March 2005 I was diagnosed with pneumonia. I was prescribed a 10-day supply, one a day, of levaquin. After about the sixth day my right knee started to bother me and about two days later the left one started. I don't know why but I immediately suspected the Levaquin but only having a couple more days to go thought that when I stopped taking it these symptoms would disappear. Not so, they have only worsened and now I can hardly go up and down steps. I have an appointment with my physician who prescribed the medication today but after reading everyone's comments there does not seem to be a quick fix for this. I agree, this medication should immediately be taken off the market. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sun, 24 Apr 2005 16:23:42 -0400 by tpwarner, #10547 My wife took Levoquin 500MG for five days and it ruined both of her achillies tendons, one ruptured, the other frayed. After 6-8 weeks in bed or a wheel chair, there are weeks if not months of thearpy to go through before she can walk again. It has turned our lives upside down and the manufacturers of this poison must be called 5to account and compensate -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mon, 11 Apr 2005 19:26:23 -0400 by Guest, #10389 I have taken Levaquin for the past 3 weeks or so (500 mg, 1 per day.) I had some interesting central nervous system effects the first week, including a brief loss of speech, but I found in each case that the effects were greatly ameliorated by cardiovascular exercise. As time has passed, the side effects have become less and less apparent. I also found that taking the pill with 1 1/2 glasses of water seemed to help. I did take one day off after 6 days of Levaquin, followed by another day off after another 6 days. The cardiovascular strangeness that seems to accompany this drug is disconcerting, to say the least. Still, I will be most thankful when my current supply is exhausted. The prescription was for prostatitis, and I'm a 36 year old male, FWIW. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wed, 6 Apr 2005 21:26:09 -0400 by Guest, #10358 I have posted on here before. (Ed) The hospital where I went to the emergency room finally answered me by letter. They said in their letter that LEVAQUIN is a safe drug. Well my answer to that is BULL----. I will never take it again. I only took 2 tablets and quit. I seem to have fully recovered from the effects of those 2 tablets. My opinion of LEVAQUIN is that it is very dangerous. Ed -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fri, 1 Apr 2005 10:54:27 -0500 by helen, #10313 do you think the Pope was floxed? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thu, 31 Mar 2005 11:56:53 -0500 by debfw, #10297 I went to the doctor for a cough and he perscribed Levaquin. He gave me 2 sample pills and an Rx for 5 more. I took the first one and started feeling achy which I just attributed to laying in bed too long. I took the next one the next day and the pain in my upper back and hips was amplified by 100! I had soreness in my eye sockets and just an overall feeling like I'd been run over by a mac truck. I also had dihrreah (sp) I am calling my doctor with this information and I am NOT filling the Rx for the extra 5. I'd rather let this thing run it's course or get another antibiotic. NOT a fan of this antibiotic and would recommend anyone using it be very careful and listen to their body.
