I took Cipro in April 2002 with no apparent side effects at the time.
In June 2002, I experienced an unexplained tendon rupture in my arm.
Over the next year I began to have more and more muscle and tendon
pain. Now, February 2004, I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My
rheumatologist believes it could be related to muscle and tendon
damage caused by the Cipro.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Horrible Side Effects to Levaquin
My MD prescribed Levaquin for a UTI. At 5:30 PM I took my first dose,
500mg. It is 4:40 AM and I can't fall asleep. I keep getting chills,
sweats, am anxious and my neck and shoulders are hurting. This is
criminal. My MD didn't even tell me of any side effects (gave me
samples to start with prior to filling RX).

I was given Levaquin for a upper respiratory infection. The first day
I had diarrhea from 12:30 until 10:00 that night. I just assumed it
was part of what was going on with me. My husband and I are remodeling
a house, and I having carpell tunnel so I assumed my hands hurting was
from the hammering and working at the house. However, it was a
different hurt. It hurt in the joints and all the way to the bone.
Then it moved up my arms, my elbows hurt terribly. My shoulders and
in-between my shoulder blades are painful. I have been taking Levaquin
for at least 10 days now, but no more. I have been getting up in the
morning only to walk like my grandmother. My ankles hurt so very bad.
I have cried for 2 days now worrying if I have rhumetoid arthritis, or
worse. My mother died of cancer. She had breast cancer, and then was
cancer free for two years. In the following winter, her legs and bones
hurt. She also had arthritis (her father had rhemetoid arthritis) so
we assumed that's what it was. It was cancer in the bones. She was
diagnosed in January and died in April of that year. I have been so
afraid, scared and really was terrified of finding out what was wrong.
I also started drinking Mountain Dews because I had no energy and felt
so bad. Then when my hands started swelling I started taking motrin.
Now I have learned from some of you on here that that's exactly what I
shouldn't have done. I am so thankful for all of you sharing and
knowing now that I'm not alone or a whiner. I'll pray for all of you
and I will do my part to try to get this medicine off the market.

My mother was prescribed Levaquin for a bladder infection on January
19, 2004. She took it for 8 days and our life has been a living hell
ever since. She is a little better now but after she took the
medication we thought she was going crazy. She did not sleep at night,
had muscle spasms in her legs (her legs would pop up for no reason at
all), had heat flashes, serious anxiety, she could not taste food at
all (she lost 30 lbs), body aches, very sore muscles, nightmares,
crying, feeling like she wanted to jump out of her own skin, an
overall feeling of doom. After several doctors visits and emergency
room visits she is almost herself again. My mom is 64 years old and a
very outgoing woman. Someone needs to see that this drug gets taken
off of the market!! If she had been told of the possible side effects
she would have never taken Levaquin!!

Eleven days ago my doctor gave me Levaquin for bronchitis. I took one
dose and twelve hours later I had muscle cramps in both arms and legs,
back pain, severe nausea, an anxiety attack, insomnia that lasted 48
hours, and my blood pressure shot up to 180/112. My doctor seemed
surprised at the muscle pain, said it should only happen to kids under
12 or adults over 70. (I'm a 50 year old woman.) He told me they
should go away in ten days, but I am still suffering from all of the
above except the blood pressure. I have totally lost faith in him and
have made an appointment with another doctor who is a specialist in
infectious diseases, and according to the friend who referred him, he
carries an electronic version of the PDr to check for drug
interactions. Hopefully I can get some help, since
suffering from all these things in a lesser way is agonizing.
