I was prescribed Levaquin 500 mg for bronchial asthma on December 9, 2002. After the last dosage, I developed the worse shoulder discomfort ever. I have used compresses, ibuprophen and am in absolute misery. Nothing seems to help. What do I do.

I posted before on December 7th, for relief of the severe muscle pain that I was having the doctor had recommended Benadryl tablets, 25mg, 4x a day. It really works, I felt such a relief that I slept for about 4 hours straight after taking the pills. It might work for you.

I have been taking Levaquin for 14 days due to a urinary tract infection. I became very ill - fevers and severe joint and muscle pain which is not going away. Do you have any suggestions to rid myself of this pain. I stopped taking the drug over a week ago and the pain is not abating.

I was prescribed Levaquin for a urinary tract infection. This is a chronic problem for me and I have always taken Cipro. After 1 day of taking my 7 day prescription, I felt very tired and weak and felt feveress (but no fever) and I was achy all over, especially my legs and feet. It is Christmas time and I blamed it on stress and fatique. I am not getting rested after 6 days and I was beginning to think I was seriously ill. I felt better after reading the side effect reports and I hope I will begin to feel better now that I have taken my last dose. I will never take this drug again.

I was prescribed Levaquin for a nasal polyp. After one day of it my wrist and thumb joints became swollen and painful to move. Advil seems to aliviate the pain.

I have taken this drug several times and each time that I have, I have gotten terrible shoulder pain...It gets better when I stop taking this medicine but does not go away. When taking this medicine I cant lift my left arm. This time taking it feels like glands are swollen in neck but they are not. The left side of my neck hurts terribly and at times when it hurst most is accompanied by a bad headache. Laying down and resting makes the neck and headache go away but not the shoulder pain.

I have had similar side effects as the others mentioned. I am taking levaquin for respritory infection and am experiencing severe nausia that could be a side effect of the levaquin. I looked on this site to see if others may have had similar side effects in order to determine if this medicine is causing my problem or if it was caused by my illness. I am convienced from these reports that it is the levaquin contributing to my nausia and my sore muscles.

A little over a month ago I took Levaquin for 14 days for pneumonia. During that time my side effects were nausea, dizziness, night sweating, insomnia, minor panic attacks and heart palpitations. I took them anyway, wanting to get over the pneumonia. I was prescribed Levaquin yesterday again because I had a cold and felt chest tightness. Last night was the worst night I ever had.... incredible muscle pain within the first couple of hours of taking the first pill on the back of my neck, legs, arms and back. I could not sleep all night turning and rolling trying to find a position where I had no pain. It got so bad that I felt I could not breath. The nausea and throwing up started this morning. I called my doctor's answering service this morning and he said to stop taking them immediately! He also told me to take Benadryl tablets, 25mg, 4 times a day until I can see him Monday. This antibiotic has really serious side effects on some people.

I had extreme shoulder pain and neck pain, couldn't figure what I was doing that would cause such pain...then a friend told me about her problem with knee pain while taking Levaquin. Stopped taking it, but shoulders and neck are still very very sore. Ibuprofen not much help, heat seems to help the most.

My mother took Levaquin for an infection, and several hours after the dose, she develops dizziness and nasea that lasts for a day and a half. She cannot even keep water down and has muscle tightness that is un-tolerable. The doctor immediately took her off the medicine to try another antibiotic.
