I took levaquin for bronchitis after being on amoxicillin for 10 days already and not responding well. So starting Nov 3rd I took this drug ( levaquin ) for seven days, I felt horrible tired sick nauseated and having calf muscle cramps, I finished the medication and before I finished it also started breaking out in horrible itchy hives that i am still being plauged with as of the 23rd of nov, have been to the dr three times and am giong to an allergist on dec 16 for skin patch test, now I am wondering if the hives are being caused by anthing at all EXCEPT the Levaquin after stumbling upon this site ( thank God for that) i was wonderin exactly how long this drug stays in your bloodsteam. I thinking that pehaps my body immune system has attacked this drug for the poison that it is

I started taking Levaquin for cystitis. After the second dose I experienced muscle pain in my back which spread up and down. After the third dose my back worsened and I had severe pain in my calves. I got suspicious and looked on line for side effects. Then I called my physician who said it could be the levaquin and to stop taking it. It has been 2 1/2 days since I had the last dose. My back is not much better, but my calves improved a little. At least I could walk without shuffling by the day after I spoke with the doctor. I thought by now all the side effects would be gone, but they are not. After checking with this web site I am somewhat alarmed, but will contact my chiropractor and physician again tomorrow.

I do not know if this will help anyone but I hope that someone will benefit from this information. I was prescribed Levaquin for 7 days, on the 5th day I awoke to severe lower back pain. I could barely walk. Next day my knee's, right foot were also throbbing with pain. The joints were inflammed and extremely painful. I stayed in bed all day hoping it would go away. The pain and inflamation became more severe. I had blood work and ex-rays, everything checked out normal. Found this site and others describing crippling effects of Levaquin. My husband did a little research and we have been injecting magnesium into my glute mucsles. 8 days later I have definatley improved. I am not out of pain nor can I walk normally but I am no longer using my mothers walker to get around the house.

I just took Levaquin for 5 days. I found this site last night and promptly stopped the drug and called my doctor for a replacement. Today I woke up and found my arthritis much worse, tendons hurt, eyes feel like seeing through a thin black curtain, dizzy, and exhausted. I have some chest pains that I have had for the whole five days. When I took the drug I got nauseous, dizzy and very tired. I couldn't sleep all night though and was very anxious and angry. I am on several other drugs including some very strong ones for pain but these are new side effects. I don't know if the pain drug is causing some of these effects but they are much worse after the Levaquin. I feel like suing my doctor for putting me on this drug but I won't.

I started taking Levaquin and after a few days I started having severe pain in my knees. I kept telling my husband that it was excruitiating pains in my knees and pain medicine was not making it better. I finished 10 days of Levaquin not knowing that it was the cause of my severe pain. I took my last one yesterday and looked up the side effects today. I am still in extreme pain in my knees, the bottoms of my feet are hurting and my hip. KNEES ARE THE MAIN CONCERN. Does anyone know if this is a lasting side effect or will this go away. I can't function like this and we have sold our house & I am suppose to be packing to move and I walk around like I'm 90. I am 58 but never had anything like this. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

A recent leg infection put me in the hospital, I was put on Levaquin by IV for two week while in ICU after leaving the hospital 3 weeks ago my Doctor has me still on 500mg of Levaquin...I am currently experiencing MAJOR INSOMNIA for the last 7 days...unable to sleep until I almost pass out from not sleeping...at the present time I have been up for 36 hours. I am glad that I have found this website and since I only have 2 days left of my medication...I will finish it and hopefully my sleeping habits will return.

Was prescribed Levaquin for sinus infection. I'm a runner and agree with another runner's posting. Don't take this drug if you run! Sudden mysterious knee and foot pain sent me searching the web to check side effects. I quit the drug and told my doctor about the side effects. My pain & stiffness went away in about 2 weeks. Glad I didn't rupture a tendon.
