Levaquin
Posted on 16 March 1999
Hi to all!

I just thought I would take a moment to update you. I was the gal who took a 10 day dose of Levaquin and ended up with Osteo Necrosis in both knees. Its not pretty!. After seeing a few Orthopeadics Ihave felt like there wasn't a whole lot any one could do. By the way, basically the bone cells are dying in both knees and I'm doing the wheelchair thing. I wrote a Doc at the Cleveland Center of Joint Replacements, and he has been wonderfully helpful. He said since this came on so abruptly that it may be reversible. Its the only glimmer of hope that I've had in the last month and a half. Researching this rare disease because of my Levaquin reaction, has been all time consuming. I am convinced if you have had some kind of adverse reaction that you have to do alot of reasearch or the docs will just leave you hanging. Don't ever take," I can't do anthing for you", just move on to the next doc. I still have the dreaded rash and am going to try to deal with this soon. If you have joint pain that won't seem to go away you probably need to get an MRI as opposed to xrays. It can show a multitude of these soft tissue problems caused by these quinolones.

I am trying to scare up some information on the use of steroids and Levaquin together. Specifically predinisone and medral. If anyone has any info ,please let me know. Best of luck to ALL, Donna
