Levaquin
Posted on 21 November 2002
On 10/04/02, I was given Levaquin during an emergency room visit for a kidney infection. Within 3 days I was in more severe pain than when I went to emergency. The pain was all over my body, in all my joints and muscles, both aching constantly and acute pain when I moved them. I went back to the doctor thinking I still had the kidney infection, however urinalysis proved I did not. I then asked my Doctor if any of my medications could cause such pain and he answered no. Later that day I talked to my pharmacist who said that a rare adverse reaction to Levaquin could cause such pain. I looked it up on the internet and realized this was the reason for my pain. I also suffered ringing in my ears, burning pain in my skin, sleeplessness, and anxiety, all of which I had attributed to the kidney infection, but I found out were symptoms of Levaquin toxicity. All of these symptoms have continued till now. The muscle/joint pain fluctuates from day to day but never disappears. I am unable to perform my daily tasks without pain and weakness in my hands, ankles, knees and shoulders. My doctor has performed several diagnostic tests and has been unable to find any other reason for my symptoms. Linda
