Subject: Another Fluoroquinolone Victim

Hi guys! Just thought I would let you in on yet another case of
doctor inadequacy. This past week, my mother-in-law was taken to
the ER when she became very ill. The doctors did the tests, pumped
her full of fluids, and before they even knew what was wrong with
her, they also started pumping her full of Cipro. They didn't even
know if what she had was even BACTERIAL or VIRAL!!! And when they
sent her home from the hospital, guess what went with her? You
guessed it, a prescription for ANOTHER round of Cipro. At this time
they still didn't know what was wrong, and just told her to "call
her regular doctor in the morning and get the prescription filled".
I was furious when I found out what they did and what they gave
her. Fortunately, after all she has seen me go through, she
listened when I told her to refuse to take it. At present time, she
is starting to experience some ADR's, such as injection site pain
and swelling, insomnia, and pretty severe back pain. I just hope it
doesn't get worse, because I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy,
let alone a person I love. Why would these idiot doctors prescribe
such a powerful antibiotic when they don't even know what they were
dealing with??? Yes, I know I am asking a rhetorical question, but
I'm mad as hell! I just wish I could have been there to stop them
before this even started!

Subject: Need advice on what to do
Hi ya'll my name is Becca and I am 28 years of age. My story is kind
of short as it has just begun. 3 days ago I started getting very
ill,it all started with me thinking I have an unlcer in my throat(or
at least that is what it felt like) in the upper area near the tonsil
area anyway this went on through the day and night.Morning came and I
could barely lift my head off the bed,I was so weak from the
extremely high fever,I tried to get up and succeeded but, it was very
hard,my throat had went from just the feeling of an ulcer to now my
glads being severly swollen,I went to my mom's house and she was so
shocked to see how I looked,I told her it probably was nothing and if
not any better I would go to the doctors.I went home trying to get
some rest with also having to watch and care for my daughter and I
had no success.My whole body began to ache so much,my fever rose
more,I was and still is constantly sweating,I could and can still
barely walk,my speech by now is so slow that it almost sounded of my
dad when he had his stroke(and that scared me to death),my skin is
extremely sensitive on my legs,I have almost pasted out about 7 times
and I am serverly nausiated.
I got up the next morning same thing but,I made myself take my
daughter to school but,I came home promptly.I called my niece to take
me to the doctor's office.Poor April was scared to even touch me and
I cannot blame her as we knew not what I had. I go back to see the
doctor and told her of my symptoms well come to find out of what they
could(cause they were just as confused as myself on this)found that I
was serverly dehydrated,my white bands were 15(if anyone knows what
that is please tell me),if I remember correctly they told my niece my
white cell count was up alot also,I cannot remember alot as I was
kind of in and out anyway,I end up leaving cause I thought I would
have to get my daughter from schooland that she would have no one to
be home if she took the bus and my dad just had a stroke and my mom
works so I had to get her.I left after they took 4 cultures,4 labs,a
anitbiotic shot of something(cant remember of what) and a
perscription of Levaquin 500MG tablets and was told to come back in 2
days and left without no diagnosis

I always check out the drugs I will be taking on the net and this
group came up on Google so I thought I would check it out.I have been
reading as much as I can as I am very weak and to write this already
has taken me close to 45 minutes as I seem to move so slow.
I must admit I do not know what to do I have read from the group and
from the net some horrible things on this drug and it scares me
but,my health the way it is right now scares me a great deal also and
for my sake and more so my daughters I have to stay healthy.
I havent taken any of the Levaquin yet,it is about 5:15a.m. and I
cannot sleep due to the problems I am having.
I know I should at least maybe try it as I know I am in bad shape but
after reading many posts from the groups past it scares me and it
scares me alot to be honest. So now I am not sure what I should do
and any advice would be appreciated very much...

Subject: Please help if you can
My mom was given Levequin in 02/02. It has been a nightmare since
then. When I found this web site, i cried for 2 days. The dr. has
finally agreed that she has been poisened by Levequin. Mom has had
center for disease control interview her, been to Mayo clinic, ben to
rhemtoid specialist, been to arthritis specialist. Nothing has
helped pain, swelling, naseau. She is currently in hospital on
morphine. She is also on Nurontene, oxicodene, prednisone.
Prednisone seems to be the worst. Can't get past 5 mil before pain
is so intense she is back in hospital. Anybody got ANY SUGGESSTIONS?
We are pretty despret at this time. Dr. can't figure out how to get
her off prednisone. And when she finally gets off it, is there still
side effects from Levequin? Please respond asap. My prayers and
sympathy to all of you that are suffering behind these drugs.
