Willert v. Ortho Pharmaceutical Corp., 995 F.Supp. 979 (Feb. 25, 1998) [Plaintiff filed a product liability action against the defendant drug manufacturer to recover damages for the autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) and Guillain- Barre Syndrome (GBS) she suffered after taking the prescribed antimicrobial medication Floxin for bronchitis. The District Court held that: (1) a medical expert's testimony about causation was not sufficiently reliable to be admissible under Daubert, and (2) without the proffered expert testimony, there was no evidence that the medications caused the AIHA and GBS. Therefore, the defendant’s motions to exclude the testimony of the expert witness and for summary judgment were granted.]
