ABOUT FQ RESEARCH

The FQ Research Web Pages are a part of the Fluoroquinolone Toxicity Research Foundation.

The Foundation is an Internet Community of those who have suffered severe adverse reactions to the
fluoroquinolone drugs.  Having acquired research from all of the world, going on eight years now,  regarding such reactions, it was decided to post this research in one location so that patients and physicians alike would be able to have a source for legitimate medical knowledge concerning such events. The research site has been online since 2000 and has undergone numerous revisions and remodeling.  Currently the site is
undergoing yet another massive revision.

The Foundation is a non profit entity that accepts no advertising or any other funds from any other such
sources.  It is financed strictly through the private funds of it's owner.  As stated within the Mission
Statement it's sole purpose is to educate those who have suffered such an adverse reaction so that they
may receive the medical care that they so desperately need at this time.

Additionally the Foundation is one of advocacy.  We believe that the adverse reactions associated with
this class are grossly misrepresented by the manufacturers as well as the FDA.  We believe that the
medical community as a whole has been deliberately misled regarding such reactions.  We find the
ignorance found within the medical community regarding such reactions to be appalling.

We recognize the fact that the fluoroquinolones are a necessary tool to be found within the
physician's arsenal but we do not support the careless manner in which they are used.  Few if any
disease states require the use of the fluoroquinolones as a first line agent.  They are not a first line
agent but a drug of last resort when all else has failed.  Therefore we support severe restrictions on
their use together with careful monitoring of the patient while undergoing fluoroquinolone therapy.

We also advocate additional research as to the manner in which such reactions manifest together
with the development of treatment protocols.  We support the use of "Dear Doctor" letters as well
as "Black Box" warnings to further educate the patient and the physician regarding the very real
risk of such reactions.

The Foundation is not associated with any organization, special interest group or lobbyist.  The Foundation
is totally independent of any and all such influences.  Nor is the Foundation associated with any other
